The girls won gold in the team event and then they won the overall trophy, which was the Shell trophy, for the Skill/Rec 1&2 event. The girls who were in the team were Megan Wimberley, Eilidh Mackay, Ciara Gallacher, Jennifer Bannon, Jade Muirhead, Nicole Urquhart, Zoe Urquhart, Cameron Oliver and Katriona Tweedie.

Cath Flemming is standing down as the clubs President to allow her to focus on her new role of President of East of Scotland Swimming Association. The Club’s Vice President Graham Turner has will be taking on the role of President for the next year. A big thank you to Cath from all the swimmers and parents for the work she has done as President. Cath will still be helping out in her duel role as synchro coach for Edinburgh Synchro.

Jennifer Bannon was recognised for her efforts at Edinburgh Synchro this year when she was awarded to Samantha Ritchie Trophy for the best overall improvement . Well done Jennifer.

After the AGM the swimmers gave the parents a short demo of their Synchro skills. Well done girls.

Synchro is for all ages and to help us organise the sessions we are splitting the sessions

Swimmers up to the age of 18 years the session will be 4-4.45pm

Swimmers 18 years and over 5-5.45pm

All you need is your swimming costume, towel and plenty of enthusiasm.

This will be held in the diving pool so you will have to be confident in deep water.

ASA Age group Synchro Championships, Gloucester 1st and 2nd Dec 2012.

Huge Congratulations to Edie Turner, who, in her first year of being able to compete individually at these Championships in the figure section was placed 24th out of 61 swimmers. They select the first 12 soloists and she was the 13th soloist. She’s gutted at this, as she is a performer. Roll on 2013

Edinburgh Synchro is pleased to announce it will be having a weeks training camp at the world renowned Club La Santa in Lanzarote.

We have booked 12 places for a stay at the camp between Friday 11th to Friday 18th October 2013.

We plan to have 2 swimming sessions (1 at least a 2 hour slot), a cycle/ run daily along with pilates/ body pump/ circuit training classes daily.  Swimmers are there to work and enjoy and be amongst other athletes

Margo and Cath are going/ one as Coach and one as Team manager.

Enjoy a 360 view of the various  sections of this massive sports resort which includes an Olympic sized swimming pool.

A huge well done to the Edinburgh Synchcro girls team who gained a gold and bronze medal for their routine at the Drumchapel SASA Age and Group Championships.

Edie, was placed 10th overall after her solo.  She was the best in Scotland and was awarded with the Dawn Zajac trophy. We are all delighted for Edie.

Swimmer David Wilkie, who was an Olympic and Commonwealth champion in the 1970s, attended the launch of the fund at the Royal Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh, which was built for the 1970 Commonwealth Games and will host the 2014 diving competition.

He said: “Having taken part in the Commonwealth Games in 1970 on home turf, I can honestly say the impact of such a huge event happening in Scotland cannot be underestimated. This is a really exciting time for sport and I personally believe the Games coming to Glasgow in 2014 will have wide reaching benefits for the country as a whole.

“We’ve seen how London 2012 successfully inspired an increased interest in sport, and we need to harness the same energy in Scotland to ensure future generations are inspired and have access to sporting facilities to help them meet their potential.”

Sport Minister Shona Robison added: “The Commonwealth Games will be the biggest multi-sports event Scotland has ever hosted and provides a unique opportunity to create a positive and lasting legacy for Scotland.

“The Legacy 2014 Active Places Fund will help communities across Scotland improve their facilities and will appeal to Scots young and old to get more active. I want as many people as possible to benefit and to be inspired by the Commonwealth Games to adopt healthier, more active lives.
